Ugh! Thats all I have to say about it. I'm so ready for today to be over with. People and the media are treating Obama like a celebrity. He is just another man who happened to be elected president! OMG!! In all seriousness though, I will be the first to admit that I am not happy that he was elected. I voted McCain, as did the majority in Georgia, but sadly, the rest of the country did not, and I only voted McCain because he was the lesser of the two evils. I would have voted Hillary over Obama - now thats unsettling. Truth be known, Obama scares me. He is such a smooth talker, he promises the world, but I don't think he will be able to follow through. I am in no way well versed in politics. I can't give you specific reasons that I dislike him so, call it a gut feeling.
Don't even get me started on the cost of his debut/inauguration. $150 million... seriously? Isn't that a bit of an overkill. I mean, I can understand the cost that is associated with security (he deserves no less of a security detail than any past leaders), and everything that goes along with executing an event of this magnitude, but seriously? And that is MY tax dollars? I don't want to help fund all that extra crap. Tomorrow he is going to get into office and ask for another bailout that he has been planning. Here's a thought, use some of that money that you spent to promote yourself. Argh.
Check this out. This is a link to a poster who very eloquently explained one of the many reasons that I did NOT vote for Barack Hussein Obama II. Seriously? He is calling unplanned pregnancies punishment for those that were irresponsible. Humm... sounds like how he is going to help out those whose homes have been foreclosed on. The exact people who were irresponsible and got into a house they could not afford and had no business being in. I know there are other circumstances in foreclosures. I have a very dear friend that is going through foreclosure and he was in no way irresponsible in his payments - he lost his job and just couldn't make ends meet anymore.
I'm not bitter, honest. I am just sick and tired of all the hoopla over some man. Yes, we (America) are making history. This is a momentous occasion. Blah blah blah.
After it is all said an done, regardless of whether I like Obama or not, he is my President. I will respect him for that. I believe he has a very big job ahead of him. Bush (who I liked until the moment he was no longer president) left a mess, but it wasn't just him. Bush came in and had to clean up Clinton's mess. Clinton had to clean up Bush Seniors mess, Bush senior cleaned up Regan's mess, etc etc... Its a never ending cycle. Just like whoever is reelected, be it in 4 years or 8 years, I'm sure they will have some mess to clean up as well.
Argh. I'm done. I will say no more.
