Respect the Turkey!

We are coming up on the marathon of eating, also known as 2008 holiday season. Ugh. My pants feel too tight just thinking of it. I am really going to make a conscience effort this year to not overeat. I have gained close to 15 lbs since Jon and I got married, and I can trace it all back to when it started at about this same time last year. I am trying so hard to loose the weight I put on, and get back down to my wedding day weight. I guess it really says something for my height and how I carry my extra pounds, since I haven't increased in pant size. Although, I must admit, my pants are a little tighter than I'd like. But I REFUSE to buy new pants. I figure, if I'm miserable long enough, I will loose the weight. It is so discouraging though. I exercise, I eat right. I even eat a balanced breakfast - the most important meal of the day! Some reason I just gain. The only difference is, even though I am eating healthy, I haven't cut out sweets. In fact, I think they have increased. There's the culprit! Oy...

So anyway, getting off my weight...

Another reason to not overindulge this Thanksgiving. This year I am running in the Savannah River Bridge Run! I am so excited!! I ran the 10k in 2004 and I have said I would do it again every year. This year I have Jon convinced to join me. The only thing is, we are doing the 5k. That's ok, I'm not in great shape. While I can run 20 min without stopping (about 2.5 miles - I'm slow, what can I say), I don't know how I'd hold up for 6.2 miles. My time 4 years ago for the 10k was 1 hour and 12 minutes. I think that is roughly a 12 minute mile. I don't think that's too bad considering I have no endurance to speak of.

I'm pretty excited about it. Jon says we are just going to walk, but I want to run. I might just have to leave him and meet up with him at the end of the race. Either way, I'm looking forward to a nice weekend in Savannah. Hopefully we can catch a ghost tour while we are there.

I just can't believe how fast this year has gone by! I mean, it seems that this past summer was when we got married. But no! That was over a year ago! Ahhh!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving!
