Let the training commence

I am heading to the gym in less than 15 min, so I'll make this quick...

This past Sunday marked the beginning of my Half Marathon Training. I am following Hal Higdon's 12-week plan, but I am making mine 13 weeks (Jon and I are going to Gatlinburg again this October for a week, and I don't know how much running I'll get in.) I am sticking to the Beginners plan, even though I could probably do the Intermediate. My leg and knee is still giving me issues, so I'm happy to do low mileage until I get to 100%. And, my main goal in the half is just to finish with a respectable time.

I missed the mark to register for the cheapest about ($45). Now it is $55, but still cheaper than some 1/2's. I am putting off registering, mostly because the thought of running 13.1 miles is slightly intimidating to me, but also because of the what if's. What if I re-injure my leg, or it doesn't get better? What if I am putting too much on my plate? What if I get pregnant? (Side note: I think we have agreed that we will start trying early fall. Eeek!) I will cross that bridge when I get there, but all the other reasons, err, excuses are making me really hesitant about signing up.

I know I'm being stupid. I just need to do it. I have already started the training. I have already told Jon I want to do it. Oh, and did I mention there is a Sprint Triathlon at the beginning of October that I really really REALLY want to do? The training for the Sprint fits nicely with my half training. On cross days, I can bike and swim. I am already going to some spin classes. I just have to get out on the road and get used to running after biking.

Like I said, I just need to sign up. Nothing keeps me motivated to get out there and run like an impending race.
