The Nike+ Human Race is this Saturday. I am signed up to run it, virtually. I have another race that day as well, the 5k Douglasville Moonlight Run, so I am definitely going to concentrate more on that, but I really want to get my 6.2 miles in that day as well. Perhaps I can run the 5k twice... I don't think Jon would be up for that. And would it count if I ran 3 miles in the morning, then the 3 miles race - or 3 miles after the race at home? Maybe I just won't worry about it because I don't want to over do it.
For this Saturday's 5k, I am taking a tip that a poster on the H&F board suggested a few days ago, to set 3 goals going into a race. One being definitely do-able, the second tough but possible, and the third not impossible, but really tough. So, for the record, here are my goals:
1) Finish under 32 min (10.3 min/mi)
2) Finish sub 30
3) Finish under 28 min (~9 min/mi and my fastest in high school, 27:46)
I really want to give it my all in this race. It will be in downtown Douglasville, so it will be flat and hopefully fast. I KNOW my 3rd goal is really ambitious, and I am going to try my hardest. I think I can do #2. I have ran a 5k in under 30 min a couple times in June and July. I guess if I only meet goal #1, I accomplished something and I won't let myself be disappointed. I have another 5k on Nov. 14, and a 10k (possibly 15k) on Dec. 5. So I will have ample opportunity to beat previous times.
Good luck to everyone running this weekend!

Good luck! I think three goals is a good idea. Sometimes I set too lofty of a goal pace and then I get disappointed in myself.
What is the 15K that you are running in Dec. Is it in Atl?
No, its in Savannah. Its the Savannah River Bridge Run held the first Saturday in Dec. Its a great run and I would really recommend it! They have a 5k and a 10k, and in 2007 they started offering a Double Pump, where you run them back to back for a total of a 15k.
Its a great chance to get to Savannah, and the race is very well organized and there is a huge expo the day before at the Savannah Civic Center. (and free beer and brunswick stew after the race).
