Playing catch up... Again.

Man, it's been a while. A lot longer than I meant it to be. Where did I leave off? Oh yeah, mid April...

Well let's see, where to begin.

Claire's first Easter. She was so sweet in her smocked dress. After church we went over to her Mimi and PeePaw's (Jon's parents) for lunch. We didn't have an Easter egg hunt (can't wait for next year when she will be old enough to have fun doing that), but we did pose her outside with some eggs.

Mother's Day. Such a special day. Not only was it MY first Mother's Day, but it was also baby dedication at our church. All our family joined us, and we all made a promise to raise her in the eyes of the Lord. We also went and looked at the nursery after church because she is becoming much more vocal and I fear that she will let out an ear piercing squeal during a quiet time in the service.

On May 21 weekend we went to my parents house where I was co-hosting a bridal shower for a sweet sweet girl who is marrying our family friend's son in August. I'm talking, this guy may as well be my brother. Our families go on vacation together, and I have known him since he was 2. Now he is 24 and getting married. We all love his fiancee. I don't know her too well yet, but she just graduated from Mercer with a degree in nursing, she is the sweetest girl and she really complements his personality. Better yet, she has learned to put up with his shenanigans. Can't wait for her to be a part of the family!

That same weekend Claire experienced the pool for the first time! And she loved it! She wasn't too sure at first, and cried a little. I think the water was a little cold. But once she saw more people in the water, she willingly went in and ended up loving it. We put her in her little float and she was kicking her legs and squealing with delight. I can't wait for our beach vacation. I hope she ends up being a water lover like me.

Claire is changing so much every day. She is waving at people now, and she will respond to waves as well. Not 100% of the time but it is always at the appropriate times. SO CUTE! Also, I believe we have turned a corner with the stranger anxiety. One day we left her with Jon's parents while we went running. Fully expecting to hear that she cried the whole time, imagine our surprise when we get home to see her happily playing on the floor with them. She hadn't cried once. And that was at the end of April that happened. She hasn't shown any stranger anxiety since!

Another breakthrough - she is sleeping in her crib for naps now. About time, right? About two weeks ago after she ate her lunch and was showing her signs of being tired, I put her in her crib fully expecting her to scream. After minimal complaining, she was asleep. And she slept for 2.5 hours! She has done this consistently for 15 days now. I am still having to rock her to sleep, but we are working on that. We have tried putting her down and letting her cry for 30-45 min. I was going to let it go closer to an hour, but the crying gets to the point where I know she isn't going to sleep unless I calm her down.

As I sit here writing this, watching the Batchelorette (guilty pleasure), I am listening to her babbling and complaining a little in her crib. I am trying to get her to put herself to sleep again. Actually, I haven't heard anything for about 10 min. Here's hoping that we can start a new nighttime habit!
