New Computer!!

That's right, we finally got a new computer. Be jealous :-) Seriously though, the old computer I got when I started college (in fall of 2000) had finally become just a large, expensive paper weight. We could still use the computer, but getting on the Internet was out of the question. It hasn't worked right since the end of June and we were just putting off purchasing the new one. We knew it would be expensive, and we have been planning for it, so we had the money. We also wanted to wait until the tax free holiday. As a side note, let me just say that people are crazy if they think they will save money on clothes. It is only tax free up to $100 people! On the other hand, it is definitely worth it when purchasing electronics. So we thought if we could save $30-$50 on taxes, it would be worth it. Now, I refuse to buy computers from large chains (i.e. Best Buy) because it is marked up so much. We knew we wanted to get a Dell, so we ventured onto the website. Jonathan's job also makes it possible for us to get a discount. We built the computer online and knew exactly what we wanted, placed the order, then anxiously awaited the delivery. Sadly, we did not get it tax free, because it was online. The order went through in Tennessee. At least Jonathan's discount more than covered that. But we did get free shipping!

So for the last week I have been transferring everything from the old computer to the new. The most daunting task has been moving all 1500 songs we have accumulated. We bought an external hard drive that will be used for storing our music and pictures, as we don't want to bog down the new computer. I have been having one heck of time with iTunes and getting the music to go where its supposed to. Poor Jonathan, he has gone to bed the last 3 nights without me. The computer will not get the best of me!

Other than that, we went to a couples shower for some friends of ours. Let me just start by saying it was the best wedding shower I've ever been to! It was just so much fun. I think a lot of it had to do with the people that attended and most to do with the hosts. They were so hospitable and so funny. They prepared a low country boil (only my favorite ever), and served strawberry shortcake for dessert. When you first arrived, they greeted you with a card with 5 words written on it and $100 in play money. The point of the game is that you can't say any of those words and if you do and someone catches you, you pay then $5. Likewise, you get paid if you catch someone else. At the end of the evening there was an auction for unknown gifts. Some of the prizes were a rubber ducky, a USB flash drive, wine and wine glasses, blockbuster gift card, a Ticketmaster gift card, etc. Some gifts were funny, some were really nice. We won a 1lb. bag of Dunkin Doughnuts Coffee and a really nice travel coffee mug. The great thing is that Jonathan has been looking for a new coffee mug. All in all, it was a good weekend.
