I'm a dork, no?

I'm a dork. I know it, if you know me, you should know it too.

I've never been much of a collector. When I was little I collected buttons - you know, like the ones they give you to pin to your shirt to promote a candidate? I have shoe boxes full. Thankfully, I grew out of that because that's a lot of clutter. Sadly, my mom still has them somewhere. I take that back, I still have them because I am my mother's daughter - a pack rat.

Later in life, I took to collecting those California Raisins that Hardee's included in the kids meal. I had all of them. I still do, again, somewhere in a shoebox at my parent's house.

During my teenage years, 1999 to be exact, I started collecting the state quarters. I have been successful in that endeavor. Currently, I have all P and D mints of all the 50 states. I am anxiously looking forward to the release of the U.S. Territories and D.C. quarters. This meshed well with Jon, as he is an avid coin collector as well. I have got him started on the Presidential Dollar collections. That works well for me too, as I would have started collecting them for myself if I hadn't given them to him last year for Christmas.

Last April, while on a trip to the Biltmore House, I discovered a new love affair with Mountain Dew. Mt. Dew has always been my beverage of choice, but once I stumbled upon an aluminum bottle that looked nothing like any Dew I've ever seen, well that sealed the deal for me. Let me introduce you to Green Label Art (GLA). It is a line of Dew bottles that are being commissioned out to artists for designing the bottle artwork. I am obsessed, much to Jon's dismay. There are a series of bottles released for a limited time in limited states. Unfortunately, Georgia is not one of them.

It just so happens that this new found hobby deepens my obsession with eBay. Let me tell you, you can find anything, and I mean ANYTHING, on eBay. To date, I have all the GLA bottles that have been released, with the exception of some incredibly rare bottles that I've seen sold for a whopping $200 on eBay in mint condition and full. I will settle for an empty bottle with dings just so I can get my hands on those. Currently, I am watching one. It has dents, is empty, and with 3 days left in the auction currently has 6 bids and is already up to $26. So we shall see.

I don't think Jon minds too much about this. When we have the basement done, in the workout room I am going to install some shelves where I will proudly display all my bottles.

So, I leave you with this: pictures of my new found obsession.
