My run yesterday was horrible.
Now that I'm running for two, I take more walk breaks in the interest of keeping my heart rate from soaring into the 180's and 190's where it likes to stay when I am really pushing myself. I honestly have no clue what it gets up to now, but I can still talk through a sentence and I've been told that should be my guide line. I think I did try to take my heart beat once last week and I believe it was 165. That might seem high, but that's actually pretty low for me while running.
Since our treadmill is on the fritz again, I had to go to the gym to run. Normally I don't mind doing this. I enjoy watching, errr, reading tv while I run. I turn on my music and read the closed captioning on the tv and totally zone out, usually making the run go by fast.
Yesterday was a whole different story.
I had every intention of running 5 miles. I could barely make it 3/4 of a mile before I felt like I was going to die of a heat stroke. I was so stinking hot in there. Needless to say, the fact that it took me 55 minutes to go 4.3 miles tells you right there that I did a lot of walking. Breathing wise I was fine, but I was just getting so hot, and overheating is definitely something I'm supposed to avoid.
I can't wait for this week - Daylight Savings Time begins! Now I can go home and run outside and get some much needed fresh air.
