Half way there!

Hooray, I've made it halfway through boot camp. Actually, I've completed 7 of 12 sessions, so a little more than half way! Woot!

Last Wednesday we had a halfway point weigh in. Down 4 lbs in 3 weeks. Can't complain about that. I would like to be a little more, but I am having a hard time cutting out some sweets, and bread. 2.5 more weeks. I don't really have an idea about what I'd like to be down to in 2.5 weeks, maybe 4 more. We'll see. Weekends are hard. I'm at home, I see chips, and other stuff to snack on. I can't help myself. Its so hard.

But I know I can do it. While I may not be seeing the weight loss I'd like, I can definitely see toning and slimming. My pants are fitting a little looser, and my stomach is nice and flat when I wake up in the morning. All great sources of motivation.

Oh, great news though. I got some new running shoes. By unanimous suggestion, I went to a specialty running store and got fitted for shoes. I have been having shin pain when I run (only when I'm running, its fine when I stop) and IT Band issues. I don't want all these to cumulate and lead to knee problems and stress fractures, so I figured it was best to do something about it now.

By suggestion of a co-worker, I went to Big Peach Running Company. They were very thorough and never once did I feel pressured to buy or lead in any one direction. When I got there, they gave me pair of Neutral shoes - mostly a standard shoe for them to use as a baseline. They put me on a treadmill and had me run for 30 seconds while filming my feet. They then slowed the video down to frame-by-frame to see how my feet acted while I was running. Turns out, I am a neutral runner. No over- or under-pronating. Then I had to stand on a foot sensor which showed on a screen where the pressure points in my feet were and what my arches are like. Apparently I have a very neutral foot with good arches. All that info surprised my mom because I had lots of foot issues when I was a baby (club feet and corrective shoes for my first 2 years of life.)

The shoes I ended up buying, Asics Gel-Cumulus 11. I never thought I would get Asics. I have never owned a pair before, and well, I just never considered them. I tried on Adidas, Saucony, and Mizuno. I was a little surprised New Balance were not apart of the selection, but maybe thats just because it is my normal shoe of choice. Come to find out, NB aren't that popular of a running shoe. Who knew? So, on to the gym in an hour for my first run in them. Can't wait!

I love Big Peach Running. Such a cool store! You should sign up for their email list... they send an email about once a week with some really fun events.
