7 weeks

Being lazy and tired on Sunday seems to be a running theme. I was so tired, I was falling asleep around 9, and I turned out my light at 9:30. I'm still tired this morning, but I think that's because I actually got too much sleep last night.

So without further ado, here is this week's stats!

Baby's brain -- both hemispheres! -- is growing fast, generating about one hundred new cells every minute. Arms and legs are emerging as joints start to form, and a permanent set of kidneys (baby's third!) is now in place.

How Far along: 7 weeks (and 1 day)!
Total weight gain: None.
Maternity clothes: Haven't started wearing the BeBand yet, but I am going without my belt (my belt is tighter than my pants, so I still have some room in my fat pants).
Sleep: Same old, same old. But I have been getting up at pee around 3 in the morning. This is new for me.
Best Moment this week: Telling my best friends yesterday.
Movement: Just gas.
Gender: Boy or girl.
Labor signs: No, thank you.
Belly button: In.
Cravings: Nothing really.
What I miss: Ummm... Nothing at the moment.
Stretch Marks: Nothing new.
Weekly wisdom: I've been sitting here for 5 minutes trying to remember what I wanted to write. So maybe my weekly wisdom should be to write stuff down when I think about it, lest I forget it very quickly.
What I am looking forward to this week: Telling the special people at work, so I don't have to be all secretive anymore.

As you may have gathered, we told our parents this past Saturday. It went exactly as we had hoped. Jon grilled amazing hamburgers, ate yummy desserts, once everyone was done and visiting, we brought out the gifts. Jon's mom was side-eyeing the boxes. We said what we wanted to say about us appreciating all their help and played it off as a thank you gift.

My mom tore into hers, and meanwhile, my dad and Jon's parents were comparing gifts. I wanted to yell at them, "Hurry up! My mom will give it away before you realize what you have!"

Sure enough, when they finally started opening theirs, my mom said, "Grandmother... GRANDMOTHER!!!" I think his mom then hurriedly ripped into hers.

It was really quite hilarious. My mom was in hysterics and crying, I was laughing harder than I've laughed in a while. Jonathan's mom had to excuse herself and go have her moment in the bathroom. My dad teared up some too. I wouldn't say he was crying, but I did see a few spots on his shirt from tears.

Whats really funny is my mom kept asking me if I was pulling her leg and playing a really cruel joke on her. She even admitted later that she never thought she would react the way she did, that she knew she would be excited, but never expected to be excited and bawling from the news.

I called our family friends and interrupted their Valentine dinner, but they said it was more than ok to interrupt with that kind of news. Apparently she was wondering if it would ever happen. I also tried calling my best friend that evening around 9, but I guess she doesn't answer her phone after 9.

So now the most important people know, and I get to start telling the other folks that I want to hear it from me instead of the grapevine. It all makes me quite nervous.
